The questions you ask yourself at the beginning of every year - ''what do I want to achieve this year? and What do I want to change this year?
Firstly let me start by discussing my ''Dear Universe'' Letter
At the beginning of January, I like to set goals up for myself for the upcoming year. I write down the usual ''lose weight, start eating healthy etc.. but I like to go deeper than that. Looking into oneself and really identifying issues that you need to address in order for you to grow as a person. I truly believe that in order for somebody to be happy they need to identify where they go wrong, what they can do that is better, and then start the next chapter of their lives with an open heart and mind. You have to dig in deep beyond the core to find your answers.
Once I write my letter; I keep this hidden in my draw and I will then re-read this next year and tick off the goals that I had achieved. I also like to keep a diary that I fill in about my every-day life. This method really helps me to express the emotions I feel depending on the day and actually allows me to look back on the previous year and allow me to feel proud of what I have achieved.
Now looking back on 2020 what have I achieved? What are some life lessons that I have learned? What have I learned about myself this year?
1) I started a teaching job in a company that I generally like. For me though this sounds like I'm stereotyping but my personality doesn't actually suit ''teachers'' their usually very hippy and indie people whilst I prefer the company of ''bad people'' because I find them exciting. However this year I had met some really nice work colleagues whose company I like.
2) I had to unexpectedly had to leave this company due to coronavirus however I took this into my stride and I didn't lose confidence and faith in myself.
3) I was welcomed back with open arms to this company in September and I have really grown from learning to a better English teacher by building my confidence and teaching again also in online classes.
4) I moved out of my house to a city that I love. I had moved out a while back in a city I HATED but I learned a lot about myself during that time so since moving to a city I love it has been smooth-sailing.
5) I have had 4 bad relationships with people that all ended on bad-terms but finally, it seems I may be lucky with guy number 5.
6) I had learned a lot about areas that I had gone wrong in relationships and the main thing I learned is to love yourself and put yourself first in a situation.
7) I've started to learn Spanish again and pass my driving theory in SPAIN (though this has been a nightmare with doing the test and passed in the UK but easier for me to learn here)
8) Ive started to go back to the gym and develop healthy habits again - this will be continued and be better in 2021.
9) Ive lost somebody that was important in my life. She taught me to never take life for granted and that your life could change in seconds so make the most of it.
10) I have developed habits and rituals that I do when I know I'm starting to lose myself in every-day life. This has helped me identify when I know my life is turning for the worst and how to get back to feeling myself again.
11) Lastly the biggest life lesson learned in 2020 is to count my blessings every-day. I have a support system that loves and cares about me and I'm generally happy with how my life is turning out.
But what would I do better for 2021?
1) I WILL pass my driving test
2) I WILL learn more Spanish especially to do with my speaking
3) I WILL become a better teacher- I want to learn business English and train in exams more
4) I WILL be healthy and put food that is good in my body
5) I WILL be lucky in love and not make the same choices and mistakes I have made in the past
5) I WANT to find some girlfriends this year that are my cup of tea and generally enjoy their company
6) I WILL make more effort with people that I know; to stop having the attitude that they should come to me
7) I WILL carry on with my rituals and routines
8) I WILL carry on with my journal (this is for my future children to feel close in my life)
9) I WANT to find a new hobby
10) I WILL be happy and spend time with my loved ones.
I love writing and expressing myself. I think being open and honest with yourself is the best policy because when you start making positive changes in your life you will reap the rewards from it. I'm not saying I am perfect because I never will be. I have times in my life where I don't think things are progressing the way they should, I can be hard on myself and not have enough faith. But underneath it all, I do have faith in myself because if you don't have faith in yourself how can you expect other people to have faith in you?
Everything I mention in my blogs are 100% real and genuine. Yes, they may be from a biased point of view but that's what articles are for. They allow people to express their opinions.
